Over the last few months, the Pan-London urgent suspected cancer (USC) referral forms have gone through another round of consultation. This included all cancer tumour groups, GP groups via their respective Cancer Alliances, as well as Pan-London forums including the primary care and Rapid Diagnostic Centres groups. Consensus on changes has now been reached and this work is moving onto the next phase.
All the 14 USC forms have now been re-formatted, proposals for changed clinical criteria incorporated and they have recently been endorsed and were signed off by the London Clinical Executive Group.
Templates compatible with the 3 GP systems used across London (EMIS, SystmOne and Vision) have been created by the commissioned IT developer. Our GP IT Champions are now working hard at testing the functionality of the forms, and seeking to identify any technical problems. Once this beta testing phase is complete, the forms will be launched with communication to practices supported by local arrangements.
