Unlocking the value of VSCE for population health

Guides for commissioners setting out approaches for working with the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector to improve Londoners’ health and wellbeing.

The current financial situation means constraints for commissioners.  Providers and commissioners of services are being asked to deliver more impact with less money while addressing increasingly complex health needs. Commissioners can use these guides to explore innovative ways of working with the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector that capitalise on new population health improvement solutions.

‘Unlocking the value of VCSE organisations for improving population health and wellbeing’ sets out new and emerging approaches commissioners in their local areas. It includes ways of adapting commissioning processes; how to engage the sector to develop sustainable business models or increase capacity; methods for creating an environment where voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations or initiatives can be kick started to fill unmet needs.

A short ‘tools and approaches to designing sustainable and impactful services’ companion guide shows how design-led approaches can be used to develop place based services and how, as part of this, business modelling can help to ensure services are financially sustainable.
