Psychological care pathway for people affected by cancer: 11 October 2017

Presentations given at the London Transforming Cancer Services event about the psychological care pathway for people affected by cancer. A report summarising the event’s objectives and outcomes is also available.

Following on from a successful event in May, the Transforming Cancer Services Team in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support hosted a second consultation event on Wednesday 11 October to consider how excellent psychological support can be delivered for Londoners affected by cancer.

The aims of the event were:

  • To obtain feedback on the key principles and recommendations for the Pan London psychological support pathway
  • To obtain multi-disciplinary, multi-agency feedback from each STP in London on the draft pathway
  • To identify implications of the pathway and principles at STP level, for commissioners and providers on the pathway (mental health, cancer, integrated care) in London.

Seventy-four key stakeholders including service users and providers, the third sector and commissioners attended the event.  A large amount of constructive and useful feedback was provided on the day. The Transforming Cancer Services team will utilise key themes from both of these consultation events to finalise the pathway and service specification.
