Training and education for staff

  • The Supporting Children’s Health programme, from Education for Health and aimed at non-healthcare professionals who look after children – including teachers, non-teaching staff, asthma champions and others – may be useful for schools looking to become accredited as an Asthma Friendly School. This free online resource is a public access site with content developed by expert health professionals in consultation with teachers, sports coaches and children’s activity leaders. This poster describes the course.
  • These slides, developed by asthma nurse specialist Gina Eyles of OneNorwich Practices, can be used to support asthma training in schools.
  • The e-learning for health tier 1 training is suitable for professionals working in education and is aligned to the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma. To be accredited as an Asthma Friendly School, 85% of school staff need to have undertaken this training or similar.
