Promoting positive mental health through music

17th December 2019

Music can play a valuable role in recovery from mental illness. It can stimulate emotional responses, develop creative, technical, social and vocational skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Key Changes a London-based charity provides wellbeing and recovery services through music to young people. This December, Key Changes artists have come together to record a song that highlights the importance of mental health and the free 24/7 support and proactive self-care resources available to Londoners this Christmas, through the Healthy London Partnership’s Good Thinking service. Titled “In The Peak Midwinter” the artists reflect on the meaning of Christmas and how to stay healthy during the festive season!

Good Thinking is a free digital health service for Londoners to tackle sleep, anxiety, stress and low mood. Over 120 online resources are signposted through Good Thinking, including wellbeing information sources; guides to improving mental health; courses on and offline; mobile apps and other therapy approaches suitable for London’s modern, highly-mobile population. For this Christmas song, Healthy London Partnership has worked with Key Changes, a London based charity that provides wellbeing and recovery services for musicians with mental health experience.
