Celebrating Mental Health

Awareness Week 15-21 May 2023

#ToHelpMyAnxiety

This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Anxiety’. Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems we can face. It affects all ages.

Through the programmes we support, we host resources to help children and young people to cope and reduce their anxiety, including support to help leading up to, and during, exams. For adults, we have a range of support available, from talking therapies to eating disorders, personality disorders, and perinatal and maternal mental health.

View our programmes below and the resources available.

Young Londoners have a lot to deal with each day and poor mental health can have a negative impact on their education, career, relationships, physical health and quality of life. Our ambition is for every child and young person in London to have timely and appropriate mental health support, with services aligned with their needs.

Through our programme of work, we support partners and local areas to develop or extend services which meet the needs of children and young people across the capital, learning from their lived experiences wherever possible. Learn more about our children and young people’s mental programme, where you can also find our latest mental health resources for children and young people, schools, and parents/carers.

We want every Londoner to stay emotionally, mentally and physically well at all ages. Our aim is to transform the way that mental health services are delivered, so that every Londoner receives high-quality care, with good outcomes, which fully meets their needs as an individual. Explore our mental health information and resources for adults and older adults here.

We also have a new blog which highlights the positive work going on to support people with Personality Disorders to receive joined-up physical and mental healthcare – read more about the support we can provide here.

The Perinatal Mental Health programme works with partners and NHS teams across London to support the implementation and ambitions within the NHS Long Term Plan for Mental Health. The key focus is in improving access to the range of support available to women/ birthing people, working to ensure they receive timely and appropriate care and support for themselves and their families. Check out our resources for women/birthing parents including stories from mothers who have experienced trauma, mental health problems and loss.
