The Transforming Cancer Services Team are contributing to the founding and development of London Imaging and Endoscopy Academies. These academies are a collaboration between NHS England, Health Education England and London Integrated Care Systems to support the delivery of training for diagnostic teams across London.

The idea of the academies is to support and enhance regional training, particularly for professions where the responsibility for training currently relies on individual trusts. This includes sonographers, radiographers, endoscopy nurses, and booking and admin teams.
The academy will employ Practice Educators who will deliver training across a whole ICS, develop online simulation training for radiographers, broadcast live endoscopies across London, employ leadership fellows to support immersion training for medical and surgical endoscopists, and develop new dedicated training facilities.

The academies have been developed by task and finish groups from each ICS, and have recently appointed clinical directors (Dr Bu Hayee and Phil Gregory) and managers (Nell Beecham and Annabel Beasley).
