The signing of the London Health and Care Devolution Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by London, national partners and central government on 16 November marked a significant milestone for the future of health and care.
The devolution deal confirmed the commitment to accelerate health and care transformation for the benefit of all Londoners through the delegation of powers to within the London system.
On 15 December 2017, London’s health and care leaders including clinical leaders, Trust Chief Executives, Borough Chief Executives, Directors of Public Health, ADASS, CCG Chairs and Chief Officers, STP Leads and wider partners met to discuss what devolution means for London and to help shape the next steps and the future of health and care for the London system.
The event provided valuable insight into health and care transformation in the Capital and was the first step in on-going engagement to co-design the future of health and care with system leaders across London. It is imperative that the delivery of MoU commitments meets the needs of all partners and results in demonstrable improvements in health and care for Londoners. London boroughs, CCGs and providers have worked closely together over recent years, through the devolution programme, in Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships and wider work. At the event leaders discussed ways to build on these collaborative approaches and explore how health and care transformation can progress at pace and scale.
The Strategic Partnership Board will meet on the 26 January 2018 and a further update will be available afterwards. A copy of the presentations from the 15 December 2017 event is available here.
